Takes something out of a scan and puts the background back. The original is never touched: every repair sits on a layer above it, so Restore rubs any of it away and Compare shows what was there.
Mark what should go with the Mark brush or the Lasso, then press Fill. The marked area is rebuilt from patches of the surrounding image, so grain and paper texture carry across.
Ink only shrinks a rough mark down to the dark ink inside it — lasso a block of text, press Ink only, and just the letters stay marked. Ink sets how dark counts as ink; Grow widens the mark to catch the soft edge of each letter.
If Fill drags the wrong texture in, paint a Sample area over clean background. Fill then copies only from there.
Set a source (Alt-click, or press Set source and tap), then paint. Clone copies pixels exactly. Heal copies the texture and, when you lift, shifts its tone to match where it landed — use it where the background grades from one colour to another. With Aligned on, the source keeps its distance from the brush between strokes; off, every stroke starts again from the source point.
